The deadline is August 1 to submit scores for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra/EarShot Composer Competition, to be held October 27 to 29, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. During the competition, three emerging composers will work with the Columbus Symphony under Music Director Rossen Milanov and receive feedback from Milanov and principal musicians in the orchestra, as well as mentor composers Robert Beaser, Margaret Brouwer, and Clint Needham. The competition will include reading sessions, rehearsals, and a performance of works by all three composers on a one-hour program presented on October 29 at the Southern Theatre in Columbus. Composers will receive a recording of their work for archival and study purposes. There is no application fee, and travel and accommodations will be provided for composers selected for the competition. EarShot is a program of the American Composers Orchestra in collaboration with the American Composers Forum, League of American Orchestras, and New Music USA.
