On July 30 at a concert by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, an episode of Mozart in the Jungle, the dramatic comedy series produced by Amazon Studios, will be filmed. During the all-Mozart program, actor Gael Garcia Bernal—playing Rodrigo DeSouza, conductor of the fictional New York Symphony—will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the Overture to Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro. The remainder of the concert will feature the actual music director of the LA Phil, Gustavo Dudamel, leading Eine kleine Nachtmusik, arias and duets with soprano Miah Persson and bass-baritone Gerald Finley, and the Piano Concerto No. 2, with soloist Alice Sara Ott. Mozart in the Jungle, an online TV series whose first season aired in 2014, is based on Blair Tindall’s 2005 memoir Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs & Classical Music and has a cast that includes Lola Kirke, Bernadette Peters, Saffron Burrows, and Malcolm McDowell.
