“The Erie Philharmonic is getting a new executive director, and he was discovered right in their own back yard,” reports Lisa Adams on Monday’s (7/27) erietvnews.com (Pennsylvania). “Steve Weiser, who has been General Manager of the Erie Chamber Orchestra for the past three years, is taking the job. He replaces current director Jeff Collier, who is moving on to Orchestra Iowa. Weiser, from Reading, Pennsylvania, is a percussionist with bachelors and masters degrees from Temple University. He has boosted fund raising, attendance, and outreach for the Erie Chamber Orchestra and is ready to take on the Erie Phil…Music Director Daniel Meyer said, ‘The philharmonic was fortunate to have such a strong candidate right here in Erie.’ Weiser begins August 10. One project he started with the Erie Chamber Orchestra will go forward. It’s a screening of the film Psycho at the Warner Theatre on Halloween night, with the music track removed. The Chamber Orchestra will perform live along with the movie.”
