Five music director candidates at Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra

“The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra has selected five finalists to audition to be the next leader of the 32-member ensemble,” writes Janelle Gelfand in Wednesday’s (8/12) Cincinnati Enquirer (Ohio). “Donato Cabrera, Sarah Ioannides, Kelly Kuo, Daniel Meyer, and Eckart Preu … each … will conduct an audition concert, and the audience will be invited to provide feedback…. The first candidate will be the orchestra’s interim music director, Kuo, who will audition on Sept. 3 as part of this season’s Summermusik festival. The other four candidates will each have an audition concert during Summermusik 2016.” The orchestra has had four music directors in its history: founder Paul Nadler, Gerhard Samuel, Keith Lockhart, and Mischa Santora. “Cabrera is … conductor of the San Francisco Symphony as well as music director of the San Francisco Youth Orchestra, California Symphony, and the New Hampshire Music Festival….  Ioannides is … music director of the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra and the Spartanburg Philharmonic….
