This year marks the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra has responded by making a series of videos in which LPO musicians reflect about their Katrina experiences. Musicians in the video interviews include Mollie Pate, principal horn; John Reeks, orchestra president and clarinet; Robert Nuñez, principal tuba; Dave Anderson, principal bass; Jim Atwood, principal timpani; and Patti Adams, flute/piccolo. LPO Board President Hugh Long also speaks in his video about how the orchestra proceeded in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, and reminisces about the Nashville Symphony’s assistance in 2005 as a gesture of goodwill “from one music city to another.” To watch the videos, click here. The LPO opens its 2015-16 season in September in the newly restored Orpheum Theater, which has been closed since the hurricane.
