The New Philharmonia Orchestra (Newton, Mass.) has appointed FRANCISCO NOYA conductor and artistic advisor, effective September 1. He is also resident conductor of the Rhode Island Philharmonic (Providence, R.I.), a faculty member at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, and music director of the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra. A native of Venezuela, Noya has conducted orchestras throughout South America, Europe, and the U.S. He has served as assistant conductor of Venezuela’s Caracas Philharmonic and Teatro Teresa Carreño, and as music director of the Longwood Symphony Orchestra in Boston and Symphony by the Sea on Boston’s North Shore. Noya holds degrees in composition and conducting from Boston University.
