“Two black-and-white classics and a pop culture masterpiece from the ’80s will provide the backdrop for the Cleveland Orchestra’s three-concert At the Movies series for the 2015-16 season,” writes Scott Suttell in Thursday’s (9/3) Crain’s Cleveland Business. “The orchestra for the past four seasons has found great enthusiasm among audiences for film showings with live music. This year’s selections—‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame,’ ‘Back to the Future,’ and ‘Bride of Frankenstein’—will be projected on a giant screen above the Severance Hall stage as the orchestra’s musicians perform. ‘Hunchback,’ the 1923 silent film starring Lon Chaney Sr.  … kicks off the series on Friday, Oct. 30, with acclaimed organist Todd Wilson accompanying the film with improvised live music. On Thursday, Dec. 10, ‘Back to the Future’ … will be shown with the music of the soundtrack performed live by the Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Brett Mitchell.… On Tuesday, April 26, as the orchestra, conducted by Richard Kaufman, performs the score to the 1935 horror film ‘Bride of Frankenstein.’ ” In addition to the three-concert At the Movies series, there will be a single screening of Home Alone in December, with the score performed live by the orchestra.
