Four additions to the musician roster have been announced by the Wichita (Kans.) Symphony Orchestra. DANIEL RIOS has taken a full-time position in the orchestra as English horn. Named to one-year positions were HANNAH MURRY, section first violin; MEGAN KARIS, section second violin; and LILLIAN GREEN, section viola. All four musicians made their WSO debuts with “Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies” on September 19.
Daniel Rios, oboe and English horn, has held posts with the San Antonio Symphony, San Antonio Opera, CityMusic Cleveland, and Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, and has also performed with the Cleveland Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He holds degrees from New England Conservatory, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and Oberlin Conservatory.
Hannah Murry, first violin, is concertmaster of the Oklahoma Baptist/Shawnee Community Orchestra (Shawnee, Okla.); a member of the Fort Smith (Ark.) Symphony, the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, and the Norman (Okla.) Philharmonic; and a faculty member at several universities including Oklahoma Baptist. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, where she is now pursuing a D.M.A.
Megan Karis, second violin lives in Montana, where she performs with the Cascade String Quartet and the Great Falls, Billings, and Bozeman symphony orchestras, among other ensembles. She has also held posts with Wisconsin’s Green Bay and Fox Valley symphony orchestras, and in Iowa with the Des Moines and Waterloo-Cedar Falls symphonies.
Lillian Green, viola, is assistant professor of music at Bethany College (Lindsborg, Kans.) and has performed as an orchestral player, chamber musician, and soloist across the U.S. and in Europe. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from West Virginia University, a master’s in viola performance from the University of Delaware, and D.M.A from Peabody Conservatory.
