The Savannah (Ga.) Philharmonic has announced the appointment of CHRISTOPHER MERKLE as director of artistic operations. He was most recently manager of orchestral operations at Aspen Music Festival. Previously Merkle served as production coordinator for Northern Virginia’s Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts; as operations and personnel manager for the Williamsport (Pa.) Symphony Orchestra; and as project manager for Arts/Axis Consulting. Merkle has studied orchestral conducting, and is a former member of the Washington Choral Arts Society. He holds a master’s degree in arts management from American University in Washington, D.C., and a bachelor’s in music from Pennsylvania’s Gettysburg College.
