The Virginia Symphony Orchestra will introduce a new “tweet seats” initiative at its September 26 concert of Mozart and Tchaikovsky at Tidewater Community College in Chesapeake, Virginia. The $9 tweet seats for students are part of a three-concert #VSOatRoper series that wraps in an educational partnership between the orchestra and Tidewater Community College’s Roper Performing Arts Center. Resident Conductor Benjamin Rous will provide historical and contextual background about the program before the concert. During the concert, audience members in the “tweet seats” may read real-time tweets that let them know what to listen for in the program. Guest conductor Dr. Paul Bhasin will lead series’ the second concert—a holiday program—on December 18, and guest conductor Taeyoung Lee will lead an all-Beethoven concert on the third series program on February 18.
