Boston Baroque announced that it has received a $150,000 grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Arts Innovation and Management program, which supports small and mid-sized nonprofit cultural organizations through training in fundraising, audience development, and board member engagement. Boston Baroque was one of 262 arts organizations nationally to receive grants totaling $30 million. Other classical-music groups receiving grants include A Far Cry, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras, Community Music Center of Boston, Handel and Haydn Society, and Project STEP (all in Boston); the Chicago Sinfonietta; Dallas Bach Society, Dallas Wind Symphony, Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra (Dallas); Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts and Sphinx Organization (Detroit); Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Santa Cecilia Orchestra (Los Angeles); and Kronos Performing Arts Association, New Century Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and San Francisco Performances (San Francisco).
