ROLAND VALLIERE has been named president and CEO of the Cape Symphony and Conservatory, based in Hyannis, Mass., on Cape Cod. The appointment takes effect November 9. Valliere goes to the organization from Memphis, where he has served as president and CEO of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra since November 2013. He has held posts at numerous other orchestras, including top executive positions with the Columbus (Ohio) and Kansas City (Mo.) symphonies. Valliere has taught music history and theory at Brandeis University and the Longy School of Music, both in the Boston area, and created an interactive device called the Concert Companion designed to enhance appreciation of live concerts. He holds a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance from New England Conservatory and a master’s degree in musicology from Brandeis.
