Because of ongoing infrastructure and safety concerns created by flooding in South Carolina’s Midlands region, the South Carolina Philharmonic is postponing its season-opening “Northern Lights” concert scheduled for October 9 at the Koger Center for the Arts in Columbia, South Carolina. A replacement date will be announced later, and tickets purchased will be honored at the rescheduled concert, or they may be exchanged for another Masterworks Series concert. In Columbia, a canal that serves as the main source of drinking water collapsed in two places, and National Guard helicopters dropped giant sandbags into the rushing water. Repairs to the system are underway, but more rain is expected Saturday.
