The Paul R. Judy Center for Applied Research at the Eastman School of Music has announced recipients of its 2015 grants to innovative ensembles. Grants range from $500 to $2,000. Supported projects include Present Music, a Milwaukee-based organization, for ComposeMilwaukee, a program of workshops and performances of new music that will actively involve members of the audience; musicologist William Robin for a social history of new music in the U.S.; the Charlotte Symphony’s multidisciplinary live outdoor plazacast of Romeo and Juliet; the Nashville-based  Intersection Contemporary Music Ensemble for a concert of works for the ensemble and Ondes Martenot, with choreography; Nouveau Classical Project’s “Mysterium Novum” interactive synesthetic music and art installation at The Knockdown Center in New York City; and Massachusetts-based Dunya for Othello in the Seraglio, with original music by Mehmet Ali Sanlikol, at American Repertory Theater (Mass.) and Poisson Rouge (NYC).
