Emerging composers Rosalie Burrell, Saad Haddad, Patrick O’Malley, and Iván Rodríguez have been chosen to participate in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s 2015 EarShot readings on October 27 and 28 in Ohio. CSO Music Director Rossen Milanov will lead two closed rehearsal/feedback sessions with the four and mentor composers Robert Beaser, Margaret Brouwer, and Clint Needham. On October 29, the orchestra will perform Burrell’s Paved with Gold, Haddad’s Kaman Fantasy, O’Malley’s Even in Paradise, and Rodríguez’s Luminis on a Happy Hour program at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus. EarShot is a program of the American Composers Orchestra in collaboration with the American Composers Forum, League of American Orchestras, and New Music USA. In addition to the Columbus Symphony, EarShot partnerships have included the New York Philharmonic, Berkeley Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Pioneer Valley Symphony (Mass.), New York Youth Symphony, and the San Diego Symphony.
