The League is a partner in the national Best Communities for Music Education effort, which recognizes schools and districts across the United States for their commitment to and support of music education. The Best Communities for Music Education designation is based on an annual survey conducted by the nonprofit National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. Music teachers and school administrators are invited to complete the 2016 survey for the Best Communities in Music Education (BCME). Throughout the BCME survey’s 17-year history, many school districts have reported that being included on the “Best Communities” list supports efforts to preserve and advance their music education programs. This past year, the NAMM Foundation recognized 388 districts and 120 individual schools in 46 states—each of these designees demonstrates an exceptionally high commitment to greater access to music education.

The following surveys are available through January 30, 2016:

For Individual Schools: The 2016 SupportMusic Merit Award Survey

For School Districts: The 2016 Best Communities for Music Education Survey
