The Oregon Symphony, based in Portland, has announced two senior appointments: STEVE WENIG, vice president and general manager; and ELLEN BUSSING, vice president for development.

Steve Wenig, who joins the orchestra on November 16, goes to Portland from the Houston Symphony, where he has been serving as orchestra personnel manager and director of community partnerships. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Hartford and a master’s in trumpet performance from the University of Michigan. At the Oregon Symphony he succeeds MARY CRIST, who is retiring after sixteen years with the orchestra.

Ellen Bussing, whose appointment takes effect December 14, is currently director of major gifts at the Los Angeles Philharmonic. A native of Portland, she has held senior development posts at the University of Arizona and at three Oregon institutions: Willamette University, Portland Opera, and Oregon Health and Science University Foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from St. Mary’s College.
