The Abilene Philharmonic in Texas will collaborate with the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature on two December 5 family events at the Abilene Civic Center featuring holiday music and a screening of the 1982 animated short film The Snowman. A children’s matinee will be followed by an after-party hosted by National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, with arts activities, photo opportunities, and visits from holiday characters. A longer evening program that day will feature additional music performed by the orchestra and vocalists Lynnette Chambers and Samuel Cook. The National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature was established in 2000; the museum is located in Abilene, Texas.
