“For the holidays this year, the Chicago Bulls are scrimmaging. But this isn’t your ordinary scrimmage,” writes Lewis Lazare in Tuesday’s (12/15) Chicago Business Journal. “The Bulls brought in 70 members of the talented Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras to play courtside for an elaborate holiday video greeting card the Bulls posted online today and sent to season ticket holders, premium seating customers and corporate partners.… The holiday video extravaganza juxtaposes symphonic-style music and sports in a way that is likely to please fans of both.… So how did the Chicago Youth Symphony get in on the action? The Bulls’ relationship with the group started when the Orchestras performed at the team’s 2014 season opener and obviously has blossomed. Together the CYSO staff and Bulls players and management decided ‘Sleigh Ride’ was the best musical selection for their first video card together.… The Orchestras will perform the national anthem and more holiday music during halftime at the Bulls home game at the United Center against the Toronto Raptors on Dec. 21.” A behind-the-scenes video features commentary from CYSO Executive Director Joshua Simonds and musicians from the orchestra, as well as from Chicago Bulls players and management.
