In Friday’s (1/22) Wall Street Journal, Jennifer Smith writes that at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Avery Fisher, “the late electronics magnate and classical-music benefactor, will be among those honored at a performing-arts hall of fame planned for the renamed David Geffen Hall and other establishments around the complex. The project, called Legends at Lincoln Center, is intended to celebrate artists, leaders and [arts] advocates…. New inductees will be honored each year…. On Friday, Lincoln Center officials kicked off the initiative by announcing a special ‘Founding Legends’ group composed of individuals such as Mr. Fisher who made significant contributions to the complex’s history. Other honorees in the group include soprano and arts leader Beverly Sills, choreographer George Balanchine and John D. Rockefeller III,” as well as  Metropolitan Opera music director James Levine; Gordon Davis, the founding chairman of Jazz at Lincoln Center; and trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis, managing and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. “The hall of fame will feature interactive exhibits and also have an online presence…. After revealing the names of the 2016 hall of fame honorees in February, Lincoln Center plans to hold an induction ceremony in June.”
