The New York Youth Symphony has extended JOSHUA GERSEN’s contract as music director through the 2016-17 season. Gersen has held the post since the start of the 2012-13 season, and was recently named assistant conductor of the New York Philharmonic. He was a participant in the League of American Orchestras’ 2013 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview. The New York Youth Symphony will launch a national search for Gersen’s successor in fall 2016.
