“L.A. Biz has selected its second class of honorees for its Women of Influence Awards, and 50 extraordinary women made the cut,” states an unsigned article in the January 27 issue of L.A. Biz. The awards “identify and celebrate women business leaders,” including Natalia Staneva, executive director of New West Symphony, based in Thousand Oaks, CA. “What is your proudest career accomplishment? … I’m proud of our partnerships.… I’ve had the privilege of working with philanthropists Sandra and Jordan Laby to bring the Harmony Project to our local community in Ventura County. This is a music education and youth development initiative for at-risk youth, which began in Los Angeles. We have more than 140 students in the music program now and we keep growing. … What is the biggest challenge or opportunity facing your company in 2016? In 2016, New West Symphony is undertaking a strategic planning process to create a roadmap for success.… We will address the issues of how to attract new audiences and become more patron-oriented, reflective and inclusive of our diverse communities.… Charities or other causes that are most important to you: Harmony Project, The League of American Orchestras, Anti-Defamation League.”
