DANE JOHANSEN has been appointed to the cello section of the Cleveland Orchestra, where he will make his debut at subscription concerts March 3-6. He has performed widely as a soloist and chamber musician, and for five years was a member of the Escher String Quartet. Johansen made his Carnegie Hall debut as first winner of the Juilliard Leo Ruiz Memorial Award. A native of Fairbanks, Alaska, he studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, and the Juilliard School.
