“The Bravo! Vail Music Festival will return this summer with a new resident ensemble in its fold, London’s Academy of St. Martin in the Fields,” writes Ray Mark Rinaldi in Saturday’s (2/20) Denver Post (CO). “The renowned chamber orchestra will kick off the 2016 season performing June 23-26, followed by residencies by Vail’s regular extended guests, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (June 29-July 6), The Philadelphia Orchestra (July 8-16) and the New York Philharmonic (July 22-29)…. The fest is also promising premieres of new works by composers Poul Ruders and Clarice Assad. ‘Environmental composer’ John Luther Adams will present his recent interactive work ‘Inuksuit’ on Aug. 6. It will have 66 percussion players spread about Maloit Park…. All three of the major American orchestras will be led, at least in part, by their primary conductors…. Yannick Nézet Séguin will be on the podium for Philadelphia and outgoing New York music director Alan Gilbert will lead the Phil. Jaap van Zweden will accompany the Dallas players…. Among the musical evenings likely to be most popular: Dallas’ July 6 presentation of Mozart’s Piano Concerto, featuring Bravo! Vail Artistic Director Anne Marie McDermott; Philly’s all Beethoven program July 8; and the Philharmonic’s all-Wagner closer July 29.”
