The National Orchestra of Belgium has announced the appointment of HUGH WOLFF as chief conductor, effective in September 2017. He will succeed ANDREY BOREYKO, who has led the orchestra since 2012. Wolff will retain his post as director of orchestras at New England Conservatory in Boston. Prior to joining the NEC faculty he was chief conductor of Germany’s Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, and from 1988 to 2000 served as principal conductor and music director of the Saint Paul (Minn.) Chamber Orchestra. Wolff has guest conducted in the U.S., Europe, Japan, Canada, and Australia. Born in Paris to American parents, he spent his early years in London and Washington, D.C. Following graduation from Harvard College in 1975 he studied conducting with Charles Bruch and composition with Olivier Messiaen.
