On March 18, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina will become the second U.S. orchestra to perform Adam Schoenberg’s Scatter, a co-commission among four orchestras. Yuriy Bekker, the CSO’s concertmaster and chamber-orchestra director, will conduct, with the CSO joined by PROJECT Trio, an ensemble comprising a flutist, beat-boxer, cellist, and bassist. At the Charleston premiere, the composer will attend the performance and speak with the audience. The IRIS Orchestra performed the world premiere of Scatter on February 27 in Germantown, Tennessee; the work heads to Texas on April 22 with the Amarillo Symphony, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra will perform it on November 12.
