“ ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,’ the first installment in the eight-part screen saga adapted from the novels by J.K. Rowling, will screen at the Hollywood Bowl this summer with the Los Angeles Philharmonic performing the John Williams score live,” writes David Ng in Monday’s (3/14) Los Angeles Times. “The event, scheduled for July 6, will be conducted by Justin Freer … the organizer behind the recently announced ‘The Harry Potter Film Concert Series,’ a film-concert tour that will travel the country. The L.A. Phil said via a spokeswoman that its presentation of ‘Harry Potter’ is similar to past movie concerts at the Bowl ‘in that we’ve licensed it from whichever agency/company represents each respective title in this film-with-orchestra format.’ … As previously announced, the upcoming Bowl season will also feature screenings of the 2009 reboot of ‘Star Trek,’ with a live accompaniment by the L.A. Phil…. The L.A. Phil announced earlier this year that it will introduce a new series at Walt Disney Concert Hall featuring screenings of classic movies with live orchestral accompaniment. For the upcoming 2016-17 season, they will include ‘Rebel Without a Cause,’ ‘On the Waterfront’ and ‘Casablanca.’ ”
