The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s principal oboe, Allan Vogel, and principal flute, David Shostac, will be retiring at the end of the 2015-16 season, and both will be featured in the March 19 world premiere of Gernot Wolfgang’s Sinfonia Concertante for Four Winds (“The D.A.R.K. Knights”). Music Director Jeffrey Kahane will conduct the work, which will also feature LACO bassoonist Kenneth Munday, in his 40th year with the orchestra, and LACO former Principal Horn Richard Todd. The same concert will feature two Mozart works: the Clarinet Concerto, featuring LACO Principal Clarinet Joshua Ranz, and the Piano Concerto No. 20, with Kahane serving as soloist.
