Completed applications for Essentials of Orchestra Management, the League of American Orchestras’ professional-development seminar, are due Thursday, March 24. Scholarships are available.

Essentials, again hosted by the University of Southern California Arts Leadership Program at the Thornton School of Music, is an intensive ten-day boot camp where top leaders of the orchestra field teach aspiring and early-career orchestra administrators all aspects of orchestra management. This year’s faculty include innovative leaders, among them Brent Assink, executive director of the San Francisco Symphony; Deborah Borda, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Simon Woods, president and CEO of the Seattle Symphony. The program is open to anyone with fewer than three years of performing-arts management experience, including graduate students, musicians, and those from outside the orchestra field, and takes place in Los Angeles from July 12 to 21.
