EMILY C. SOCKS has been named director of advancement at the Maryland Symphony Orchestra in Hagerstown. She goes to the MSO with several years of experience in program development, most recently with the Arc of Washington County, a Hagerstown-based nonprofit that promotes community involvement and independence for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She plays the flute and has worked as a high school marching band instructor. Socks is a graduate of Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md.
