Musicians from Oregon’s Eugene Symphony will perform a free concert of Mozart and Beethoven string quartets at Lane County Health and Human Services Building on April 7, when the orchestra unveils Symphony Connect, a new chamber music and community engagement initiative. The new program will involve music performances and other events held in bars and restaurants, hospitals, business, and social service agencies in Eugene, Springfield, and the southern Willamette Valley. The program’s goal is to present diverse programs outside the concert hall, and identify ways to help improve health and well-being through those live music performances. The inaugural performance on April 7 is part of local celebrations of National Public Health Week, during which Lane County Public Health recognizes members of the community for their contributions to public health with awards.
