KENNETH C. FISCHER, president of the University Musical Society of the University of Michigan, has announced that he will retire from the Ann Arbor-based presenting organization on June 30, 2017, at the conclusion of his 30th year in the job. The sixth person to serve as UMS president during its 137-year history, Fischer was honored in January of this year with Chamber Music America’s Richard J. Bogomolny National Service Award, and was the subject of a cover feature in the Winter 2016 issue of CMA’s magazine, Chamber Music.
