In March, a new 72-page white paper on culture was released by Britain’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport and presented to Parliament. The Culture White Paper, the first in 50 years, has been published and is available here. In it, says the Association of British Orchestras, the government “revealed plans to improve access to culture for the disadvantaged, to help arts organizations develop new income streams and to encourage local authorities to put culture at the heart of their plans. Every publicly funded cultural organization will be required to work to increase opportunities for the most disadvantaged to access culture, and to report on their progress in this area.”
