“The Louisville Orchestra, slated this summer to return to the city’s Waterfront to perform in celebration concert for Independence Day, is looking to share its stage with local singer/songwriters via a contest called #SingForTheCity,” writes Elizabeth Kramer in Monday’s (4/11) Courier-Journal (Louisville, Ky.). “Up to three winners will sing with the orchestra at its July 3 performance. Last year’s concert included Ben Sollee and Jecorey ‘1200’ Arthur. The orchestra requests contestants submit a 15-second video excerpt via Instagram that show themselves performing their original music. Contestants must use the hashtag #SingForTheCity and tag @LouisvilleOrchestra. The submission deadline is 11:59 p.m., May 6. On May 9, orchestra artistic director Teddy Abrams and orchestra staff members and representatives will choose up to 10 finalists who then will be required to submit a full video via YouTube or Vimeo by 11:59 p.m., May 21. Winners will be announced May 23.”
