The Jackson (Mich.) Symphony Orchestra has appointed MATTHEW AUBIN music director designate effective with the 2016-17 season; he will assume the post of music director in the 2017-18 season. He succeeds STEPHEN OSMOND, who steps down from the JSO following a 40-year tenure. Aubin, currently artistic director of the Chelsea Symphony in New York City and a freelance horn player, has conducted and performed widely in the U.S. and abroad. He is also a consultant for the television series “Mozart in the Jungle” and has served on the faculties of Washington State University and The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.
