The Louisville Youth Orchestra has announced the appointment of DEANNA THAM as music director, effective July 1, 2016. She is currently music director of the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Previous posts include music director, American Chamber Orchestra; cover conductor, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra; and assistant conductor, Carnegie-Mellon All-University Orchestra. Tham holds a bachelor’s degree in horn performance from Carnegie Mellon University, a master’s in conducting from Northwestern University, and a professional studies certificate in conducting from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She received further training in conducting at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, the Conductors Retreat at Meadowmak in Maine, and Bard College Conservatory of Music in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
