The San Francisco Symphony will live-stream tonight’s world premiere of Mason Bates’s Auditorium via Facebook Live, the first time the orchestra has used that technology for a video webcast. Pablo Heras-Casado will guest-conduct the concert at Davies Symphony Hall, which also includes Bartók’s Dance Suite, Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9. Only the Bates work, featuring the composer on electronica, will be live-streamed. The free stream will begin at approximately 8:15pm; it will also be archived and available for on-demand viewing after the performance. Viewers should be followers of the orchestra’s Facebook page and will receive an automatic notification when the stream begins. More information is available at www.facebook.com/sfsymphony.
