The postmark deadline is May 17 for U.S. conductors, stage directors, arts administrators, and conducted ensembles to apply for the American Prize, which annually gives cash prizes in a variety of categories, with judging based on recorded performances. Most categories include separate divisions for professional musicians, college/university musicians, community musicians, and high-school musicians. A new category added in 2016 is the Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the performance of American music, open to orchestras, choruses, and their conductors. David Katz is the founder and chief judge of American Prize, which was launched in 2010. More information is available here.
