Chicago’s Grant Park Music Festival has announced several appointments to its orchestra and chorus for this summer. They include SU HYUN PARK, assistant concertmaster, and COLIN CORNER, principal double bass.

Su Hyun Park is a graduate student at the Juilliard School, where she studies with Donald Weilerstein and Li Lin. She is a 2008 winner of the Juilliard Pre-College Violin Concerto Competition, and was awarded First Prize and Grand Prize at the Taegu Broadcasting Corporation Music Competition in South Korea. Park has also participated in the Perlman Music Program, Music Academy of the West, and the Starling-Delay Symposium.

Colin Corner is completing his first season as principal bass in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Previously he held that post for seven seasons with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Corner has also played with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. First-place winner in the 2003 International Society of Bassists Orchestral Competition, Corner is a graduate of Michigan’s Interlochen Arts Academy and holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.
