The Vermont Youth Orchestra Association has announced the appointment of EDWARD CUMMING as interim conductor, effective in August 2016. He will conduct the organization’s top-tier orchestra during the 2016-17 season while the VSOA conducts a national search for a music director. Cumming is Primrose Fuller Professor of Orchestral Activities at the Hartt School of the University of Hartford in Connecticut. He was music director of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra from 2002 to 2011, and before that held posts as resident conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and music director of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.
