Over the next two months, the Houston Symphony will offer fifteen free community concerts at Houston metro-area venues, beginning on June 1 at Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Community concerts, led by Associate Conductor Robert Franz, will take place June 8 through July 13 at five local high schools as well as Miller Outdoor Theatre and Ripley House Neighborhood Center. Just before each community concert, there will also be an instrument petting zoo. Five additional free ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights concerts at Miller Outdoor Theatre will be offered from June 17 to June 25, led by Robert Franz and three additional conductors: Rune Bergmann, Jacomo Bairos, and Yaniv Dinur. There will be two free “Star-Spangled Salute” concerts at Miller Theatre on July 3 at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and on July 4 at Miller Outdoor Theatre, led by Principal Pops Conductor Designate Steven Reineke.
