Mangan was given two weeks severance after 18 years of service. OC Register has at least two staff writers who review pop concerts and write about pop culture, says Mangan…. Meanwhile, over at The New York Times … deputy culture editor and former classical music and dance reporter Daniel J. (Dan) Wakin will move as of June 20 to become deputy editorial director of NYT Global. ‘In this new role Dan will look for opportunities to make our core report even more appealing to non-American readers,’ reads the internal memo … [and] also be a point person in New York for the expanded editorial staff in Latin America, China, and other new markets….’ Whether, when, or who will fill his position is not known at this time….
