The Fresno Philharmonic in California has received $200,000 from the William T. Coyle and Wanda G. Coyle Charitable Trust, to be used to sponsor one concert per season for the next ten seasons. During the 2016-17 season, the Coyle Trust funds will sponsor the orchestra’s opening concert on October 2, led by Sameer Patel, one of six music director candidates who will lead the orchestra during the 2016-17 season. (The other candidates are Daniel Meyer, Alexander Mickelthwate, Aram Demirjian, Rei Hotoda, and José-Luis Novo.) In 2010, the Coyle Trust endowed the orchestra’s Assistant Principal Cello Chair and sponsored a concert featuring violinist Itzhak Perlman.
