The Renaissance Performing Arts Association has selected “three final candidates for Music Director of the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra,” states an unsigned article in Saturday’s (6/18) Richland Source (Mansfield, Ohio). “The international search included more than 100 applicants. Each candidate will conduct one masterworks concert in the 2016-2017 OhioHealth Symphony Series.” Theodore Kuchar, currently music director of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra and Reno Chamber Orchestra, will lead the orchestra on October 29. Scheduled for March 25 is Octavio Más-Arocos, director of orchestral studies at Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music (Berea, Ohio). On the podium for the May 13 concert will be Douglas Droste, music director of the Ball State Symphony Orchestra (Muncie, Indiana). “In addition to the three candidates for Music Director, the Mansfield Symphony has also announced that Larry Griffin has been named as the new director of the Mansfield Symphony Chorus, following a brief search in April 2016.”
