“As is typical for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, they aren’t wasting time in honoring a music icon who has passed on,” writes Ray Steele on Sunday (6/26) at The IndyChannel.com (Indianapolis, IN). “The orchestra says it will present ‘The Music of Prince,’ a tribute concert as part of its new season on October 14 at Hilbert Circle Theatre. The ISO will be among the first orchestras to perform the work of composer and conductor Brent Havens, who says it will take the audience through a ‘symphonic journey’ of Prince’s biggest hits. Featured songs will include ‘Purple Rain,’ ‘Kiss,’ ‘When Doves Cry,’ ‘Raspberry Beret,’ ‘U Got the Look,’ ‘Little Red Corvette,’ and ‘I Would Die 4 U,’ just a handful of the dozens of hits for the musician who died in April at the age of 57. It is the latest ‘Music Of’ composition for Havens…. Havens also conducted the Tribute to David Bowie concert that was part of the ISO’s Symphony on the Prairie series at Conner Prairie this past weekend.”
