“A picnic, fireworks and crowd-pleasing music such as classic movie scores played by a symphony. That’s what the Pacific Symphony’s summer concert series at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre is about,” writes Antonie Boessenkool in Sunday’s (7/3) Orange County Register (CA). “This is the final season for Orange County’s symphony and everything else … at the outdoor venue.… The amphitheater will be torn down to make way for apartments…. Frank Terraglio, who heads marketing for the symphony, said the organization hopes to relocate to a venue just as peaceful as Irvine Meadows. ‘It’s a very lovely outdoor space, bucolic, sort of feels removed from the fact that you’re right in the middle of an urbanized area,’ he said. ‘(Visitors) bring their picnics, they bring their family and friends, and they enjoy the music.’ … This will be the 29th season for the symphony at Irvine Meadows.” The series runs July 4-September 3. For next year, “Terraglio said the symphony is looking at two possibilities: the Pacific Amphitheatre at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa and a location at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine.”
