The Portland-based Oregon Symphony has announced a three-year extension of CARLOS KALMAR’s contract as music director. He has led the orchestra since 2003, and the new contract extends through the 2020-21 season. Kalmar has informed the board of directors that this will be his final contract extension with the orchestra, and states in a press release, “By the time this contract expires, I will have been here almost 20 years, a very long tenure in this day and age. I will be ready to take on new challenges by then, especially in the world of opera, which is a great passion of mine.”
