LAURA STREET was elected president of the Amarillo (Tex.) Symphony at its annual meeting in June. During her career as a physical therapist, nurse practitioner, and administrator, she has served as executive director of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health at Texas Tech University and was the founding executive director of Amarillo’s Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts. Formerly the Amarillo Symphony’s vice president, Street led an executive-director search for the orchestra, served as its interim executive director for six months, and chaired the most recent music director search. She is past president of the Texas Association for Symphony Orchestras and a former member of the League of American Orchestras’ Volunteer Council.
