The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced the appointment of KENSHO WATANABE to a two-year term as assistant conductor, effective with the 2016-17 season. He is currently conducting fellow at the San Diego Symphony, and last year completed his tenure as the inaugural Rita E. Hauser Conducting Fellow at the Curtis Institute under the mentorship of Philadelphia Orchestra Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Watanabe holds a master’s degree in violin from the Yale School of Music.
