Ann Arbor Symphony heads to the farmers market

This summer, Michigan’s Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra is again performing free concerts at local farmers markets. The series launched on July 17 at Green Oak Farmers Market and continues at Ypsilanti, Depot Town Farmers Market (July 23), Pittsfield Farmers Market (Aug. 4), Ann Arbor Farmers Market (Aug. 6), Ypsilanti, Downtown Farmers Market (Aug. 9), Westside Ann Arbor Farmers Market (Aug. 11), Northville Farmers Market (Aug. 18), Brighton Farmers Market (Aug. 20), Canton Farmers Market (Aug. 21), Kensington Metropark Farmers Market (Aug. 26), and Chelsea Farmers Market (Aug. 27). Small ensembles from the orchestra have performed at area farmers markets since 2014, supported by a three-year grant from Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan. Performances include instrument petting zoos for children, and free concert tickets are offered to participants in food-assistance programs.
